Photography for fun, colorful, creative folk

Rebecca + Joe | Treasure Island Wedding | San Francisco, CA

Rebecca is my best friend from college. Why shoot your best friend's wedding you might ask? A couple of reasons:

1) They live in San Francisco, in an amazing location over looking the Castro and Market Street, going all the way down to the Bay.

2) They're wildly creative and artsy. Reb and Joe are avid party throwers - neigh, party DESIGNERS - and their house parties are always incredibly decorated, themed, and outrageous in the bestest ways.

And 3) They're stunningly good looking, as you can see:

Also, despite the fact that I still consider Reb my bestie, the 3000 miles has put me a little out of touch with her life and her social circle, so I figured, I'd rather be her photographer and have access to her the whole day than be another guest and have to vie for her time and attention. You know; all selfish reasons :)

So. In their home where they prepped, the guys hung out and drank beers while the girls got ready downstairs:

Gotta love a bride who takes the time to pretty-ize her maid of honor (and bestest sister) on her wedding day.

You also gotta love a mom who's got a sense of humor and a wild streak. All my love, Suzanne ;)

So, to my great surprise (being a Bostonian), it's shockingly cold, and very windy, in San Francisco in June! So despite the beautiful scenery and views, we opted to do Joe and Reb's first look indoors to save their regalia for the ceremony. And besides - with an apartment this cute, how could you not? (If you missed it, check out the awesomeness of their apartment in their engagement shoot post)And in true SF fashion, they rented a trolley to get their family and friends to Treasure Island.

With a stop at the Embarcadero, of course.

Reb and Joe are huge Burning Man fans, having gone a couple years now. So their location was especially meaningful to them - they had their ceremony on Treasure Island, under the Bliss Dance statue, built originally by Marco Cochrane for Burning Man.

Their reception was then held at The Winery on Treasure Island, along with, of course, a cocktail hour featuring a lot of good wine.

And for those of you who don't know Joe, Joe has a secret power. Here he is looking all suave, buuuut...

He's able to leap pretty much anything with a single bound!

Reb and Joe also wrote and read their vows off of a kite, that they then flew over their guests at the end of their ceremony. And on to the party!

My perk: Reb, being my bestie, hired a second shooter, my favorite, most awesome East Coast bestie, Korri of Photography by KLC, who was then kind enough to cover the reception for me so I could go rock out and party with my friends from Tufts and new friends in the Bay Area. All my thanks, lovey.

I truly love this girl to pieces. Now, on to my next plan: booking more weddings in San Francisco, and hopefully (fingers crossed) migrate out there permanently at some point!

Vendor love!
